Surface
In the sport of finswimming, "Surface" is a competitive discipline in which swimmers race using a snorkel, mask, and monofin or bi-fins while swimming along the water's surface, as distinct from "Immersion" events raced underwater without a snorkel. Governed internationally by CMAS, surface events are timed pool races that emphasize the efficient, high-speed propulsion technique of fin-swimming. The sport attracts competitive swimmers and divers drawn to the added speed and technique that fins and snorkeling gear provide over traditional swimming.
