Speed Climbing

Speed climbing is a competitive rock climbing discipline in which two climbers race side by side up an identical, standardized 15-meter wall route with fixed hold placements, timed to the hundredth of a second. Unlike bouldering or lead climbing, the route never changes, so athletes memorize precise sequences and train explosive power and reaction time, with elite climbers finishing in under 5 seconds. It became an official Olympic climbing discipline starting at the Tokyo 2020 Games.
