Rope Solo Climbing
Rope solo climbing, or rope soloing, is a rock climbing technique in which a single climber ascends a route using a self-belay device or system instead of a partner managing the rope, allowing them to protect themselves against falls while climbing alone. It requires specialized equipment and technical knowledge of self-belay mechanics and is used by climbers who want to attempt roped routes without a partner. It carries greater risk and complexity than partnered climbing due to the lack of an external belayer.
