Shooto

Shooto is a Japanese mixed martial arts promotion and rule set founded by Satoru Sayama (the original Tiger Mask) in 1985, making it one of the earliest organized MMA competitions in the world, predating the UFC. It emphasizes technical grappling and striking with weight classes and amateur development leagues, and has served as a proving ground for numerous fighters who later competed internationally.
