Sambo

Sambo is a combat sport and self-defense system developed in the Soviet Union in the 1920s-30s, blending techniques from judo, wrestling, and various regional folk-wrestling styles. It has both a sport variant (emphasizing throws and pins similar to judo) and a combat variant (adding strikes), and remains especially popular in Russia and other former Soviet states.
