Panduri

The panduri is a traditional Georgian three-stringed, fretted plucked instrument with a long neck and a boat-shaped wooden body, similar in family to the lute. It is used mainly to accompany Georgian folk songs and the country's distinctive polyphonic vocal music, providing rhythmic and harmonic support to singers. Musicians and folk-music enthusiasts play it both as a solo instrument and in ensembles at traditional gatherings and performances.
