Nine-Pin Bowling

Nine-pin bowling is a bowling variant, popular in parts of Europe such as Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, in which players roll a ball to knock down nine pins arranged in a diamond pattern rather than the ten pins used in modern ten-pin bowling. It is considered a historical predecessor to ten-pin bowling and is still played competitively, including in organized leagues and international championships. Playing surfaces and ball types vary by regional tradition, such as Schnellkegeln or Classic formats.
