Candlepin Bowling

Candlepin bowling is a variant of bowling popular in New England and the Canadian Maritime provinces, played with tall, narrow, cylindrical pins shaped like candles rather than the bottle-shaped pins used in tenpin bowling. Players use a small handheld ball, roll three balls per frame instead of two, and fallen pins ('deadwood') are not cleared between shots within a frame, adding strategic complexity. Its smaller ball and narrower pins make high scores rarer than in tenpin bowling, and it retains a devoted regional following.
