Giant Slalom

Giant slalom is an alpine skiing and snowboarding discipline in which competitors race down a course marked by widely spaced gates, requiring wider, faster turns than the tighter slalom event but more technical turning than downhill. It is one of the technical events at the Winter Olympics, testing a racer's carving precision and speed judgment over two timed runs. Recreational skiers also practice giant slalom turns to build technique and confidence at speed.
