Shovel Racing

Shovel racing is a winter activity, originally popularized at ski resorts, in which participants sit on a modified snow shovel and slide down a snowy slope or course at high speed. It reportedly began among ski lift operators and maintenance workers using shovels to get down mountains quickly, later evolving into organized races with specially built low-friction shovel sleds. It draws thrill-seekers for its combination of simplicity, high speed, and low cost compared to other winter sports.
