Greco-Roman Wrestling

Greco-Roman wrestling is an international amateur wrestling style, and one of the two disciplines contested in the modern Olympic Games, in which competitors are forbidden from using their legs to trip or hold an opponent or attacking below the waist. Wins come from pinning the opponent's shoulders to the mat or accumulating points through throws and holds executed with the upper body. Despite its name evoking antiquity, the modern sport was codified in 19th-century Europe, and it remains popular for its emphasis on upper-body strength and technique.
