Tolerance stack-up analysis is an engineering method used to calculate the cumulative effect of individual part tolerances on the overall fit and function of an assembly. Mechanical and manufacturing engineers use worst-case or statistical (RSS) methods to ensure parts will assemble correctly and function within spec despite manufacturing variation, commonly using GD&T principles.
