Michigan Postings More Than Doubled This Week: 245 New Roles vs 109

Michigan picked up 245 new listings in the last seven days across the employer boards we track, up from 109 the week before. That is a gain of 136 roles and a 125% jump — the second-largest percentage increase among the 12 states with openings on Career App right now.

It beat the national week, and most other states

The whole tracked network had a loud week: 10,817 new listings against 6,610 the prior week, a 64% increase. (That comparison covers only boards we were already crawling before the comparison window, so newly onboarded employers don't read as a hiring boom.) Michigan ran roughly twice that rate.

Only North Carolina grew faster, at 156%. Massachusetts came in just behind Michigan at 115%, and Ohio — the other Great Lakes state in the top tier — added 252 roles against 131, up 92%.

In raw volume Michigan sits seventh, behind California at 982, Texas at 606, New York at 500, Florida at 430, Tennessee at 264 and Ohio at 252. Michigan's share of all new listings this week was 2.3%, up from 1.6% a week ago.

Who was posting

Our employer counts run network-wide rather than state by state, so the leaderboard below describes the week overall rather than Michigan alone. Two names on it are worth watching for anyone searching in the state: Meijer posted 203 new roles this week and carries 674 open, and Target posted 228 new with 679 open. Both are retail operations with wide Midwest footprints.

The week's biggest posters overall were VF Corporation (654 new, 897 open), AdventHealth (559 new, 991 open) and Ranger Boats (527 new, 732 open). U.S. Bank has the largest open pool of any employer we track at 1,010, with 298 of those posted this week. Cleveland Clinic added 320 and Tyson Foods 238.

Which job titles moved

Across the network, Software Engineer led named occupations with 63 new postings, up from 49. The sharper moves came lower down the list: Registered Nurse went from 3 to 18, Business Development Manager from 1 to 11, Operations Manager from 5 to 14, Accountant from 2 to 11, and Data Engineer from 2 to 11. Product Manager held flat at 18, and Engineering Manager slipped from 14 to 12.

On skills, Python topped the week at 91 new postings, followed by Microsoft Excel, SQL and Salesforce at 56 each. Inventory Management showed up in 23 — a smaller count, but the kind of requirement that travels with warehouse and retail hiring.

One pay note relevant to a manufacturing state: Manufacturing Engineer postings carried a median employer-posted range of $230,000 annualized over the last 30 days, against $156,000 in the prior 30. That is drawn from 19 listings versus 72 — a thin and shrinking pool, so treat the move as a signal about which specific roles got posted, not a raise.

The wider picture stays mixed. The network holds 58,042 open listings from 686 employers, but 20,745 listings closed in the last seven days against 10,817 opened.
