Wheelchair American football is an adapted version of American football played by athletes using manual wheelchairs, typically in a flag-football style to reduce contact, on a smaller field with modified rules for blocking and tackling. It allows people with mobility impairments to participate in a sport built around the same strategic elements of downs, passing, and scoring touchdowns as the mainstream game. It is played recreationally and in organized adaptive sports leagues in various countries.
