Australian Rules Football
Australian rules football is a fast-paced contact sport played between two teams of 18 on a large oval field with an oval-shaped ball, with goals scored by kicking the ball through posts at each end. Distinctive features include spectacular overhead marking, handballing, and a free-flowing style with minimal interruptions. It originated in Melbourne in the 1850s and is now governed at the elite level by the Australian Football League (AFL).
