Surfing

Surfing is a water sport in which a rider stands (or lies/kneels) on a board and rides along the face of a breaking wave, using balance and steering to stay in the wave's power pocket. Originating in ancient Polynesia and popularized worldwide through Hawaii and California beach culture, it draws people for the thrill of wave-riding, connection with the ocean, and a distinct lifestyle and subculture.
