Lili'u

Lili'u is the Tuvaluan and Tokelauan term for string figures, a traditional Pacific Islander pastime akin to cat's cradle in which a looped string is manipulated between the fingers to create intricate patterns and shapes. The activity is often accompanied by chants or songs and has traditionally been used to pass down stories and cultural knowledge between generations.
