Black Bottom

The Black Bottom is a dance that emerged from African American communities in the American South in the early 1920s and became a major dance craze of the Jazz Age, rivaling and eventually helping eclipse the Charleston in popularity. It featured hip-shifting, stomping, and slapping movements, and was popularized nationally through Broadway revues and recordings of the era.
