Hand Jive

The Hand Jive is a seated dance craze from the 1950s in which dancers perform a rhythmic sequence of hand and arm movements—clapping, crossing, slapping the thighs—without using their feet, originally done in crowded British jazz clubs where there was no room to dance. It became widely known through the song "Willie and the Hand Jive" and later the musical Grease, and people enjoy it as a fun, low-space way to move to music.
