Cha Cha

The Cha Cha (or cha-cha-cha) is a Cuban ballroom and Latin social dance that emerged in the early 1950s from danzón and mambo rhythms, named for the distinctive triple-step "cha-cha-cha" sound of dancers' feet. It is danced to lively, syncopated music in a moderate tempo, characterized by playful hip movement and quick, precise footwork. It remains one of the standard International Latin dances in competitive ballroom dancing and a favorite at social Latin dance venues.
