Knickerbocker Rules
The Knickerbocker Rules were a set of baseball rules written in 1845 by Alexander Cartwright for New York's Knickerbocker Base Ball Club, formalizing concepts such as foul lines, three-out innings, and tagging or force-outs instead of throwing the ball at runners. They are widely regarded as a foundational document in the codification of modern baseball.
