Ice Yachting

Ice yachting, or iceboating, is the sport of sailing wind-powered craft mounted on steel runners or blades across frozen lakes and rivers. Because ice offers far less resistance than water, iceboats can travel much faster than the wind pushing them, which is a major part of the sport's appeal to sailors in cold-climate regions like the northern United States, Scandinavia, and the Netherlands.
