Ice Stock Sport

Ice stock sport, also known as Bavarian curling or Eisstockschiessen, is a winter sport originating in the Alpine regions of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, in which players slide a weighted device called an ice stock (a wooden or plastic disk with a handle mounted on a rubber base) across a lane of ice toward a target. Similar in concept to curling, it is played both recreationally at village festivals and competitively, with team and target-shooting event formats governed by the International Federation of Icestocksport. It remains especially popular in central Europe as both a casual pub or festival pastime and an organized club sport.
