Ice Dancing

Ice dancing is another name for the figure skating discipline of ice dance, in which mixed-gender pairs perform choreographed routines on ice that emphasize footwork, rhythmic timing, and close partnering rather than the jumps and throws seen in singles or pairs skating. Competitors are judged on technical elements such as twizzles and lifts as well as artistry and musical interpretation. It has been a Winter Olympic event since 1976.
