Circular Chess

Circular chess (also called round chess or Byzantine chess) is a chess variant played on a board arranged as a circular or annular ring of squares rather than the standard 8x8 grid. Pieces move along the curved board with adapted rules for how bishops, rooks, and other pieces traverse the ring, giving the game a different strategic feel from orthodox chess. It appeals to chess enthusiasts interested in historical variants and novel spatial challenges.
