Atomic Chess

Atomic chess is a chess variant in which any capture causes an 'explosion' that removes the capturing piece and all non-pawn pieces in the surrounding squares, dramatically changing tactics and strategy compared to standard chess. Kings can even be destroyed by nearby explosions, ending the game instantly, which makes king safety and piece placement radically different from traditional play. It is popular on online chess platforms like chess.com and Lichess as a fast-paced, tactically explosive alternative to classical chess.
