Chinese Jump Rope

Chinese jump rope (also called elastics or Chinese garter) is played with a long loop of elastic bands, traditionally stretched around the ankles or legs of two players standing several feet apart while a third player performs a sequence of jumping, stepping, and hopping patterns without tripping. As players succeed, the elastic is raised higher—first to the knees, then hips, waist, and beyond—increasing the difficulty. It's a popular playground game among children, especially girls, often accompanied by rhythmic chants that dictate the jump patterns.
