Chimta

The chimta is a traditional percussion instrument from the Punjab region of South Asia, consisting of a long pair of metal tongs fitted with small jingles or cymbals along its length. Musicians play it by striking the two arms together and shaking it to produce a rhythmic jingling sound, often while singing devotional or folk songs. It is closely associated with Sufi qawwali and Punjabi folk music traditions, and is easy for amateurs to pick up as a rhythm accompaniment instrument.
