Balboa

Balboa is a fast, compact partner dance that emerged in Southern California in the 1920s and 30s, originally danced in crowded ballrooms to up-tempo swing music. It's characterized by a close embrace and small, quick footwork, allowing dancers to move efficiently in tight spaces, with an offshoot style called "Bal-swing" that incorporates more open, swing-out movements. It remains popular today within the swing dance community alongside Lindy Hop and Charleston.
