International Latin

International Latin is one of the two main disciplines of competitive ballroom dancing, comprising five standardized dances: cha-cha-cha, samba, rumba, paso doble, and jive. It is danced competitively worldwide under rules set by bodies like the World DanceSport Federation, with an emphasis on hip action, sharp rhythm, and dramatic character distinct from the smoother International Standard (ballroom) dances. Competitors train for years to master its athletic footwork and expressive performance style for use in dancesport competitions.
