Backcountry Skiing

Backcountry skiing (also called off-piste or ski touring) involves skiing on unmarked, ungroomed terrain outside resort boundaries, often reached by hiking, skinning up with climbing skins, or helicopter/snowcat access. It requires avalanche safety knowledge and gear like beacons, probes, and shovels. Enthusiasts are drawn to the untouched powder, solitude, and physical challenge unavailable at crowded resorts.
