Target Posted 986 Jobs in Seven Days, 92% of Its Open Listings on Our Boards

By Ben Garves

Target posted 986 jobs in the last seven days across the employer boards we track. Its total open count is 1,069. That means roughly 92% of everything Target currently has live went up inside a single week.

Target's week on the boards we track

That is the largest one-week posting volume of any employer in our data this week, by a wide margin. The second-place employer, Ranger Boats, added 399. Target's total is about two and a half times that.

Where it sits in the week's totals

Across all boards we track, 8,858 jobs went up in the last seven days, spread across 682 employers with listings open. Target accounts for about 11.1% of that new volume on its own. Against the 59,508 listings open in total, Target's 1,069 is a smaller slice, about 1.8%, which is the point worth holding onto: this is a burst, not a standing inventory.

The week itself was quieter than the one before. New postings fell from 9,698 the prior week to 8,858, down 9%. Closings ran just below openings: 8,500 roles closed in the same seven days.

New postings this week by employer

Big posting week, mid-sized open pool

The employers with the most new postings are not always the ones with the most jobs open. Target leads both this week, but the gap between the two lists is instructive:

U.S. Bank has nearly as many roles open as Target with less than a third of the new postings, meaning most of its listings have been sitting longer. Cleveland Clinic shows the same pattern more sharply: 853 open, 215 of them new. Target's board looks the opposite, almost entirely refreshed in one pass. Boards that turn over that completely in a week usually reflect a scheduled bulk repost or a seasonal hiring push rather than a steady trickle, but the crawl records what is live, not the reason it went live.

The rest of the top ten by new postings this week: See's Candies at 319, Citigroup at 256, Lifepoint Hospitals at 216, and JLL at 211.

The wider week

California led new postings this week with 1,094, up from 941 the prior week, followed by Texas at 665 and New York at 472. Michigan held roughly level week over week, at 269 against 271, while Arizona rose 29%, to 219 from 170. Those figures cover every employer on the boards we track, not Target specifically.

Remote roles made up 4% of new postings this week.

Correction, October 11, 2026: An earlier version of this post counted every closed listing rather than closed roles, and compared each week with the one before using only roles still open, which overstated closures and growth. The figures above have been recomputed, and comparisons the data cannot yet support have been removed.
