Florida New Postings Nearly Double to 398 This Week, Third-Most of Any State

By Ben Garves

Florida added 398 new job postings this week across the employer boards we track, up from 214 the week before. That is an 86% increase, and it puts Florida third among states by new-posting volume — behind California (610) and Texas (562), ahead of New York (382).

Florida new postings, this week vs last

The growth rate matters more than the rank here. Both states above Florida moved differently: Texas also climbed hard (350 to 562, +61%), while California slipped 4% and New York slipped 2%. Florida's week nearly doubled off a small prior-week base of 214, which is the kind of swing that can come from a handful of large employers refreshing their boards at once rather than a broad shift in demand.

Where Florida sits in the national week

Across all boards we track, new postings came in at 9,328 this week against 7,064 the prior week — a 32% rise. Florida grew about 2.7 times faster than that national pace. It accounted for 4.3% of all new postings in the week.

The wider picture is less dramatic than either number suggests. Over 30 days, new postings totaled 28,749 versus 28,964 in the prior 30 — essentially flat, down 0.7%. And 19,052 listings closed in the last seven days, roughly double the 9,328 that opened. Total open listings stand at 57,713 from 685 employers hiring across 12 states with openings. Remote roles made up 5% of everything new this week.

New postings this week by state

Florida is not the fastest riser

Among states with at least 150 new postings this week, Florida's 86% gain ranks third. Georgia tripled its week, from 62 to 178 (+187%), and North Carolina went from 90 to 192 (+113%). New Jersey (+76%), Pennsylvania (+71%), Massachusetts (+62%) and Texas (+61%) all posted double-digit-plus gains as well.

Week-over-week change in new postings

The one thing the state table does show consistently: the three biggest coastal boards moved in different directions. California and New York both edged down, Michigan held exactly flat at 221 in both weeks, and nearly every other tracked state rose. A 32% national increase built mostly on mid-sized states rather than the largest ones is a thinner signal than the headline number implies.

Who was posting the most this week

Our employer leaderboard runs on total new postings, not by state, so these counts span every board we crawl:

Health systems take three of the top six slots by new postings, and hospitality and grocery each place one. Cleveland Clinic carries the largest open book of the group at 905 listings despite ranking eighth on new volume this week.

Pay context

Employer-posted salary ranges, annualized to USD, run highest in the technical and senior commercial roles we index. Machine Learning Engineer posts a $283,500 median across 86 listings and Engineering Manager $279,500 across 176 — both small pools. The deepest pool is Software Engineer at 1,012 listings and a $240,092 median. At the other end, Sales Representative medians $79,698 across 140 listings.
