Career App Passes Its 250th Occupation

By Ben Garves

AUSTIN, Texas, October 18, 2026, Career App has passed its 250th occupation. The exact count stands at 254 as of today, measured across the employer careers sites Career App crawls plus roles employers post on the site directly. The counter is one of the public tallies the site keeps on its own coverage.

An occupation counts toward that total when it holds at least five roles open right now in Career App's taxonomy. Unlike the site's listing counters, the occupations index is a snapshot rather than a cumulative total, so the number can fall as roles close. Occupations with four open roles or fewer are not counted.

The previous reading was 232 occupations, observed on October 17, one day earlier. That is 22 occupations added between the two readings.

The cumulative counters sit behind that snapshot. Career App has indexed 229,860 distinct job listings since launch, whether or not they are still open today, and reads 1,130 employer careers sites. Those listings come from 752 distinct employers. Of the indexed listings, 26,012 carried a pay figure the employer published on the listing itself, a salary or a range, never an estimate.

Today's inventory is a separate measure from those running totals. Job search on Career App currently shows 60,974 open roles from 722 employers hiring, including 8,698 posted in the last seven days and 3,638 remote roles. Of the open roles, 10,438 carry posted pay, with a median of $147,000. That median comes from pay ranges employers published on their own listings, annualized to USD. The site also holds 33 consecutive daily snapshots of its hiring inventory, the series behind the public US hiring trends, day by day page; a full year of that series would be 365 rows.

The following is a draft quote for publication.

"Two hundred fifty-four occupations means a job seeker can look up most of the work people actually do and find at least a handful of open roles behind the name," said Ben Garves, founder of The GoodApps Company. "The count moves both directions, because it only counts occupations with five or more roles open today. That is the number I would want if I were the one searching."
