Accounting Manager
An accounting manager leads a team of accountants, overseeing financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, and ensuring the organization's books comply with GAAP. They manage ERP systems and processes across the accounting function while providing team leadership and mentoring to staff accountants and analysts. This mid-to-senior role typically requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, often a CPA, and several years of progressive accounting experience before stepping into management.
Duties & responsibilities
- Oversee month-end and quarterly close processes, managing GL workflows, balance sheet reconciliations, and audit readiness
- Lead and mentor accounting team members while managing day-to-day execution of accounting operations
- Ensure financial reporting and internal controls comply with US GAAP and regulatory standards
- Manage accounting functions for specialized domains such as fixed assets, revenue recognition, or intercompany transactions
- Design and implement scalable accounting processes and drive process improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on finance operations, including partnership with sales, legal, and product teams
- Oversee ERP systems and technical accounting tools used in the close and reporting processes
