Wildwater Canoeing

Wildwater canoeing (also called downriver canoeing) is a competitive discipline in which paddlers race canoes or kayaks down a whitewater river course as fast as possible, either individually against the clock or head-to-head, over distances that can range from short sprints to long endurance courses. It emphasizes speed and efficient line-choice through rapids rather than the technical gate-navigation of slalom, and it is governed internationally by the ICF.
