Wheelchair Racing
Wheelchair racing is a track and road racing sport in which athletes use specially designed lightweight racing chairs, with large angled push-rims and a low, aerodynamic frame, to propel themselves at high speeds over distances ranging from sprints to marathons. Competitors develop significant upper-body strength and technique to maximize the efficiency of each push. It is a marquee Paralympic athletics event and racing chairs are also a common sight in major road races like the Boston and London Marathons, often finishing before the elite runners.
