Vinkensport

Vinkensport, or finch sport, is a traditional Flemish and Belgian pastime in which owners of chaffinches compete to see whose bird sings its characteristic call the most times within a set period. Competitors line up along a street with caged finches, and judges use tally sticks to mark each song. The sport has roots dating back centuries and remains a cherished regional tradition, particularly in Flanders, with dedicated breeding and training practices to produce champion singers.
