Tenor Guitar

The tenor guitar is a four-string guitar with a shorter scale length, usually tuned in fifths like a tenor banjo (C-G-D-A) or sometimes like the top four strings of a mandolin. Developed in the 1920s so tenor banjo players could double on a guitar-like instrument, it is used today in jazz, folk, and Irish traditional music for its bright, punchy tone.
