Stoop Ball
Stoop ball is an urban street game, especially associated with New York City stoops (the steps leading to building entrances), in which a player throws a rubber ball against the angled edges of steps and other players field the rebound, scoring points based on how it's caught or where it lands. It required only a ball and a stoop, making it a classic low-cost pastime for city children in the 20th century. It's often grouped with other 'stoop games' as an example of resourceful, informal urban play.
