Savate, also known as French boxing (boxe française), is a French combat sport that combines boxing-style hand strikes with kicks delivered using both feet, distinguishing it from most other kickboxing styles. It evolved in the 19th century from street-fighting techniques used by French sailors and streetfighters, and practitioners traditionally wear specialized shoes for kicking.
