Paralympic Football

Paralympic football covers adapted forms of soccer for athletes with disabilities, most notably five-a-side blind football, played by visually impaired athletes with a ball containing internal bells and a sighted goalkeeper and guide. A cerebral palsy version, played seven-a-side, was historically part of the Paralympic program before being discontinued. Blind football in particular rewards sharp hearing, communication, and spatial awareness while retaining the pace and tactics of the mainstream game.
