Paralympic Cross-Country Skiing

Paralympic cross-country skiing is a winter endurance sport in which athletes with physical or visual impairments ski set distances on groomed trails using classic or freestyle (skate) technique. Competitors are grouped into standing, sitting (using a sit-ski), or visually impaired (guided by a sighted skier) categories, with finishing times adjusted by a percentage factor so athletes of different impairment classes can be compared fairly. It has been part of the Winter Paralympic Games since 1976 and draws athletes who value its blend of aerobic endurance and technique.
