Highland Dance

Highland dance is a solo, highly athletic style of competitive dance originating in the Scottish Highlands, traditionally performed to bagpipe music and often in kilts or other traditional Highland attire. Classic dances include the Highland Fling, the Sword Dance (Ghillie Callum), and Seann Triubhas, many rooted in Scottish military and Gaelic culture. It is practiced competitively at Highland games and dedicated dance competitions worldwide, as well as for fitness and cultural preservation.
