Indian Chess

Indian chess most commonly refers to chaturanga, the ancient board game that originated in India around the 6th century CE and is considered the common ancestor of chess and related strategy games across Asia and Europe. It was played on an 8x8 board with pieces representing infantry, cavalry, elephants, and chariots, corresponding to the pawns, knights, bishops, and rooks of modern chess.
