Iditarod
The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race is an annual long-distance race across Alaska in which mushers and their dog teams cover roughly 1,000 miles of harsh winter terrain from near Anchorage to Nome. It commemorates historic sled-dog supply and mail routes, most famously the 1925 serum run to Nome, and it draws competitors and spectators for its test of endurance, dog-handling skill, and survival in extreme cold.
