High Kick
High kick most often refers to the Alaska High Kick and Two-Foot High Kick, traditional Native Alaskan and Arctic sporting events featured in competitions like the World Eskimo-Indian Olympics, in which an athlete balances on one or both hands and kicks a suspended target with a foot before landing again in balance. Originally used to build the balance, strength, and coordination valued in hunting and survival, these games remain an important part of Alaska Native and Inuit cultural heritage and competitive tradition. Competitors are judged on the height of the target they can successfully strike while maintaining control.
