High Bar

The high bar, or horizontal bar, is a men's artistic gymnastics apparatus and event consisting of a single steel bar raised about 2.5 meters off the ground, on which gymnasts perform continuous swinging movements, giant swings, release-and-catch moves, and dismounts without pausing. It demands exceptional grip strength, shoulder flexibility, and precise timing, and its dramatic releases and high-flying dismounts make it one of the most visually exciting Olympic gymnastics events. Elite routines combine multiple releases and complex twists before a final dismount that is scored for both execution and difficulty.
