Frog Jumping Contest

A frog jumping contest is a competitive event, most famously the Calaveras County Fair's Jumping Frog Jubilee in California (inspired by Mark Twain's 1865 story "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County"), in which participants coax or encourage frogs to leap as far as possible within a limited number of jumps, with the longest cumulative distance winning. Contestants often catch, train, or rent frogs and use techniques like clapping or blowing on them to prompt jumps. Such contests are typically held as festive community or county fair events blending folklore, humor, and light competition.
