Field Target

Field target is a precision air rifle shooting discipline in which competitors shoot pellets at metal silhouette targets (often shaped like small animals) set at varying, unmarked distances across an outdoor course, with a hit causing a "kill zone" paddle to fall and reset the target. It demands accurate distance estimation, wind reading, and consistent marksmanship, using scoped spring-piston or PCP air rifles. It has an organized competitive scene with national and world championships, particularly popular in the UK and US.
